    Hi there,

I just noticed that when a new comment is approved it does not show until the SG cache is purged. At least the comment will show in the browser that I’m logged in with (Safari), but I always have another browser running (FF) and not logged in to WP to test various things. I refreshed that browser (FF) a few times, but the comment only showed after manual SG cache purge.

This is not a serious issue though as the cache is automatically purged soon enough when I run updates and make other more important changes. Approved comments can normally wait for a cache purge.

Hey @sean-h , hope you are doing well!

Since the comments are appearing once the cache is flushed, have you enabled the automatic cache purge functionality? You can find the toggle for the automatic cache purge under the Supercacher Settings tab in your plugin’s admin page.

This should take care of the cache once new comments are submitted and approved.

If the issue persists after enabling the option, please reply to this thread with the URL of the website in question and we’ll be happy to troubleshoot further.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi @ignatggeorgiev, all good!

The thing is, auto cache purge is on, but for some reason comment approval is not triggering a flush. It is only after I manually flush it myself, or if something else triggers a flush that newly approved comments are shown.

It is actually happening on these 2 sites, the only ones in my account that have comments:

    thetravellingchilli.com
    thetastychilli.com

Again, I don’t consider this an urgent issue as firstly we don’t get a lot of comments anyway, but also something else such as plugin updates will trigger a cache purge, so any newly approved comments will eventually show up. However, I have made a mental note to manually flush the cache right after I approve a comment. The button to do that is conveniently right on top of the admin bar. But I also often flush the cache regardless, just to be sure.

Hey @sean-h, thanks for the elaborate answer!

We have done a couple of tests on similar environments and we haven’t found any issues with the automatic cache purging.

Please note that, when you are approving a comment, the cache doesn’t clear right away, there is actually a 60-90 seconds interval between the approval and the cache clearing mechanism in order to collect all of the needed URLs that need to be cleared.

Please try approving a comment and check on the page after a minute or so to ensure that the cache has cleared automatically.

Let us know if you have any further questions, we’ll be glad to help.

    Kind Regards,
    Ignat

It’s only been 2 days since I was told what to look for, I’m on a camping holiday in Spain and have not had time to look more into it, but go ahead and consider it resolved.

    Regards,

    Sean H.
