    Hi,

I want to know is there any negative side of mapping an Archive Page with a Static Page? Is there any delayed comparing with direct access/ SEO affection on this.

BTW, I am curious about mapping method. Did you use re-direct or some other techniques? Can we still use some WordPress’s function which belonged to Archive Page in Static Page (like Archive’s Description/Title…)

    Thank you!

There are some bugs with Yoast schema data showing the wrong page and canonical URL. It picks up the page meta description and all that, so you’re good there. If you map a page to an archive and try to go to that page, it is redirected to the archive.

For mapping, I use pre_get_posts, so it’s not a redirect, but a takeover of the query.

I don’t believe you can use archive description/title once mapped. The archive takes the attributes of the page you mapped it to.

I hope that answered your questions!

    Take care,

    Ronald

@ronalfy Thank you for enlightening me. I have some more questions:

1/ I used for this category for example: https://test.it24.vn/category/uncategorized/ to be mapped with this page: https://test.it24.vn/sample-page/

Now I will have 2 page with same content/ different slug. Could you make mapping become two-ways mapping, meaning that one static page would be mapped with one taxonomy term and sharing same URL?

    Thanks!

I have a pre-release candidate that will redirect any page mapped to a term to that term archive. Unfortunately, that will mean you’ll have to re-save each term that is mapped, but it will work from now on.

You can try it out here: https://github.com/ronalfy/post-type-archive-mapping/tree/3.3.5-testing

Hopefully, I’ll release it in the next few days pending testing feedback.

I plan on Yoast SEO compatibility in the next major version if the task isn’t too daunting.

    Thanks,

    Ronald

@ronalfy Super cool! I will test that out. I suggest you will map page and sub-page for archive for more natural.

Such as we have a category and sub-category abc.com/category/sub-category, then we can make page and sub-page accordingly abc.com/category/sub-category (or if could not same slug will use abc.com/category-alias/sub-category-alias.

Hope you understand my idea ??

    Thank you!

Or course. Just out of curiosity, what are you doing with the term archives? Just trying to understand what the end goal is.

Term mapping was recently added as a user requested it and it wasn’t that hard to add. But as I was coding it, I kept thinking, “What will people do with it?”

It’s now turning into a popular feature.

@ronalfy For me, I am using Elementor Page Builder. In free version, there is no way to make Archive Page in Elementor. But with this plugin, I can build archive page for posts, woo products with just Elementor free, lol ??

Nice. I use Beaver Builder and Beaver Themer to accomplish most of what this plugin can do, but I can definitely see why people like this solution over page builders.

@ronalfy Yep! And hopefully in the future, you can somehow let us use Archive’s information (Description, Archive Image…) ??

And I think that overtime if this is the main feature, you should think of re-name your child, lol ??

@ronalfy Currently I can think of a work-around via page’s slug. Due to we usually map same Achieve Slug to Page Slug, so we can use that slug to get Archive’s information.
