Archive organized by year?

How could I output an archive organized by year?

The output that I would like would be something like:

1920:

link to post #1, excerpt here
link to post #2, excerpt here
link to post #3, excerpt here

1921:

link to post #4, excerpt here
link to post #5, excerpt here

Etc.

I think I’m over complicating this in my head. I’ve done several searches and looked over the codex, but the only thing I can figure out is how to make a whole archive page a single year. I need every entry made on one page… just categorized into years.
