Hi. I am building a website for an architect. I made a custom post type for properties with a taxonomy for location. I created a taxonomy-location.php file. It works great however one location provides me with a page stating Index of /wp/location/edgartown-ma along with the directory of the website. I am not quite sure how to fix it because it is only a problem with one location. Help Please! Thanks

  • Hi knolan2,

You might get more help with your question in the https://www.ads-software.com/support/forum/plugins-and-hacks forum. The reason being that this forum, where you currently have your question, is all about folks having WordPress install issues. Just my 2.5 cents!

    Hope this helps!

Yep, good advice, Randy – thanks!

@knolan2 – I’ll go ahead and move this thread to that forum – so someone there can likely help you.

    Hi knolan2,

It sounds like that directory path actually exists on the server. Is that true? Permalinks that resolve to actual files or directories never get processed by WordPress, it’s up to the server on what to do.

Servers should not be configured to display directory content, it is a security risk. Usually this only happens when the directory lacks a default file to display, such as index.php.

Probably the best thing to do is ensure that no directories on the server can possibly match any location taxonomy term slugs.

The taxonomy term is edgartown-ma. It doesn’t match another directory on the server. https://localhost/wp/location/edgartown-ma/. Every other location works too.

Ah you were right! I don’t know how that happened. Thank you so much!
