Archive Template Hierarchy

Can you please detail as much as possible what you’re trying to achieve? In this way, we’ll be able to give out the best course of action. ??

I want to use the archive template in a child theme for a custom CPT now I can’t figure out the archive hierarchy in Blocksy.

Not entirely sure why you would need this, as Blocksy already offers archives for CPTs. Is there something specific that you are looking to achieve by modifying these?

Just as a side note, many of our components are not editable. If the files that you want to edit can be found in this diagram — https://developer.www.ads-software.com/files/2014/10/Screenshot-2019-01-23-00.20.04.png — they can be edited. Otherwise, all other Blocksy components are privatised and cannot be edited.

Alternatively, you might want to look into Blocksy Pro’s template replacement engine — https://creativethemes.com/blocksy/docs/extensions/how-to-build-an-archive-template/ — https://creativethemes.com/blocksy/docs/extensions/content-blocks-custom-single-templates/ — which lets you create templates for singulars and archives with no code.

Thank you, what I’m trying to achieve is that I want to add a few CPT custom fields on the archive cards, I have more than one CPTs but there’s one I want to customize the archive template for. I know the basic wordpress archive hierarchy but I’m having a hard time figuring it out in Blocksy (I’m seeing archive, archive card, and helper files in each ??).

Note I’m not a developer, but I’m trying to avoid the use of Gutenberg. It’s just 2 custom fields I want to add to the archive cards template. Hope it’s not much of a bother.

Oh, so you’re speaking of the internal templates. Unfortunately, due to compatibility and security reasons, these cannot be modified.

The easiest way to achieve this would be to use Blocksy Pro’s features.

I know it might sound like an upsell, but believe me, it is not. Even in Blocksy Pro you cannot modify these privatised components. It’s a measure that we’ve implemented to make sure that no issues arise down the line. Sorry, but that’s how things go.
