Archives affected by options

I have my index set to show only the most recent seven posts to help with page loading. But I’ve discovered in 1.5 that this option appears to affect my archives as well. Viewing archives by month or category will only display the most recent 7 posts. In 1.2 it would display the entire month or the entire category. At this time searcing by archives doesn’t get you anywhere since there’s no way to see the other posts beyond the last 7.

Any known solution to this problem?
