Archives.php not being called and used correctly

My site: Earthascope

I recently added archives.php to my current theme’s folder because I needed to insert code there that would tell it to display only post titles on the archives and categories pages.

I inserted that code into my archives.php but I don’t know how to call it for use on the actual site. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
