• I’ve just received 2 emails, one purportedly from WordPress (Subject: [https://www.mygoforthegreen.com] Site Lockout Notification) and the second from Go for the Green Selling Challenge, our product name on the site (Subject: [https://www.mygoforthegreen.com] Daily Security Digest). The first went into my Junk mail folder automatically; the second, my Inbox.

When I checked the originating IP addresses, the WordPress one was from Moscow, Russia (which makes me nervous); the other, Illinois. Checking Properties and Message Source, I saw iThemes in the html text of the message body.

Are these legitimate or spam? I am able to access site Admin panel.

I haven’t opened them in my Windows Live Mail Reading Pane and won’t until I hear from you. Right now, I’m just nervous: there’s so much hacking around.

Thanks for your help and advice.

    Linda

P.S. I started trying to set up iThemes Security yesterday, but did nothing except check the “white list site for 24 hours” box. I realized I needed to research how to do this correctly before going any further but wonder if this has anything to do with the emails.

  • Hey Linda,

    These seem like legitimate lockouts.

The best way to go about configuring it is to enable each feature one at a time while checking the full functionality of your site.

    Thanks,

Thanks so much, Gerroald, for your message. I feel better about the emails not being spam!

I also appreciate your advice on configuration. I like the one at a time and check approach. Plan to get started tomorrow.

    Thanks again,

    Linda
