• Hi guys,

I was wondering if it would make much difference in terms of loading time and SEO, google rank, of my website between having:

    – 1 regular WP installation (ex: website.com) – doesn’t allow for too much customisation of each of my sections

    and

    – 1 WP core installation and 2 separate WP installations in 2 folders (ex: website.com/gallery and website.com/shop) with potentially different themes – this would allow me to have different navigation menus, customise a homepage for each section more easily etc

I’d really appreciate your feedback ??
    Thanks!
    mimi

  • Taht won’t really matter which way you do it as far as SEO goes. You’re still going to be keeping things under the same domain, and each area will have it’s own content (I’m guessing…) so there should be no difference in how it’s seen by search engines.

What you’re describing is actually one of the good use-cases for a Network setup. Using a network you’ll have a more centralised admin area, one single place for updates, and you’ll share the user-base across each site/system. None of that’s available from two or more separate installations so you’d be managing each one separately.
