• One aspect I can’t get full understanding of (and am a bit worried about as maybe leaving unused files or if I delete them might start having missing images).

If I upload my .jpg images to e.g. /Temp-Images and then use Add From Server from that directory, once imported is everything the web site needs moved to below /wp-content/uploads or are some still necessary files (e.g. the full resolution versions) still needed in the /Temp-Images directory. i.e. once Add From Server used to “add” from /Temp-Images can I delete the .jpg’s from /Temp-Images.

Sorry if it’s obvious but I can’t fully understand and with a significant number of pages and loads of images, some through Add From Server, others “Add New” from Media Library testing and being 10% would be horrible.

    Hi @psamathe,

If the files exist within the wp-content/uploads folder, they’re used as-is and are not copied.
If the files exist outside of the wp-content/uploads folder, they’re copied over.

You’d be best to test it out yourself though (So you can see and understand how it works), add an image you don’t plan on using to your /Temp-Images folder, import it, view it within your admin and look at the URL in the media details, you should see wp-content/uploads/2020/.... and no mention of Temp-Images. Then you can go ahead and delete your original and make sure that the copy inside WordPress still exists and works.

Many thanks. Will give it a go.
