Hi Everyone!
Some answers to the questions raised in this thread:
(1) Will the plugin be updated and developed?
Yes, it will. The plugin got its critical update to remain “workable” with the current WP and plugins versions. The new update with totally refactored code, faster, stable, addressing some long term issues (like “show count” and sorting issues) is coming. After that, new features development will continue. I am really sorry for getting you all in trouble.
(2) What does happen to your website if you deactivate EML?
Categories disappear from the media library, but not from the database. You still be able to use them with other post types and plugins. If you created a dynamic gallery based on a media category, then the gallery will not work. It will show all images attached to a post, not those from the category. EML does not change image URLs (nor category URLs – they are all of native WordPress) so all images will stay in your media library in any case. Image (re)order is also stored in the database in a ‘natural’ WP way. If you then activate EML (possibly a new version) over some time, you’ll see all your categories and dynamic galleries back.
To clean up the database from all EML traces, you have to use a special feature from its admin Settings
> Enhanced Media Library
> Complete Cleanup
(terrifying red button with warnings). If you did not do this, you’ll get everything back.
If you need any assistance please feel free to ask for it at any time. The support is resumed. Again, my sincere apologies.
Best,
-Nadia
