Argent – Blog overviews in blogs

  • Hi!
    I’m a real (amateur) novice at this, so please excuse my lack of knowledge.
    I’m using an Argent theme, and am exploring MyCurator to curate other people’s blogs to put in one place.
    I’m keen to develop a page which has links to the blogs in two columns rather then a single column. Each ‘box’ would have an thumbnail and a one liner about the post which users could then click on.
    All my attempts have ended up with a single column and twice as much scrolling.
    Please can anyone give me any advice on how I might go about doing this? I’m not sure if I need to change to another theme, or if I can modify Argent to do this.

    Do you have a site link to share where I can see what you’ve done so far?

    Argent does not have a multi-column layout, so there’s no way to have your posts display that way – something like that would require significant customization to the theme, more than just a few lines of custom CSS code.

    However, this theme does have special treatment for the Portfolio custom post type, showing Portfolio projects in a grid layout on the Portfolio archive page, as shown here:

    To use that feature you need to also have the Jetpack plugin installed and the Portfolio post type enabled.

    Whether the grid has one, two or three columns depends on screen size, but you can use custom CSS to force it into two columns if you prefer.

    Thank you for taking the time to respond. It is really appreciated.
    I haven’t published anything as yet (just playing on an unpublished page on https://www.actionprovoked.com, hence no link, but the treatment for the Portfolio custom post looks exactly what I’m looking for.
    I’ll give that a try.
