Arrogant developer

This plugin used to be fairly simple and easy. You typed in your UA and the plugin helped you disable the tracking code for your own staff (ex: logged in administrators)
Now this plugin has gone far beyond… and not in a good way. In a recent release, it was decided to insert this plugin at the very top of the wp-admin navigation (ABOVE pages and posts). It REMOVED the features we used it in the first place. It is converting to a PAID plugin. The plugin is no longer easy for people to use and it is STUFFED with ads to purchase support and premium memberships. Charging for a plugin is just fine and we pay for many of them… but I’m really irritated by Joost’s approach.
I suppose the business model is something like this:
1) Start with a decent plugin
2) Convert existing free features into paid features
3) Convert the formerly simple administration into a fuzzy/vague/confusing mess… then charge people to explain itReviewing forums, Joost’s snarky comments abound and it is clear that he could care less about alienating people. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen egotism as overwhelming as he has on is website! I mean…. how many freaking caricatures of yourself do you need? Or maybe Joost really is a superhero tea drinking code wizard that shoots lightning bolts from his ray gun! In any case, he must feel pretty confident with his current wave of popularity when he responds to public feedback with things along the lines of “if you don’t like it build your own.”
Fair enough, Joost. We don’t need your plugin and we’re no longer including it on our sites. We don’t need to waste our time trying to give you helpful feedback so that you can deride us. We don’t need our staff having to discuss with your tech support to enable something as simple as google analytics!
I decided to write this review simply to help others avoid wasting their time and money.
