    Hi,
I’m using CF7 Google Sheets Connector, and did several experiments:

    a) When not connected to Google Sheets (Google Sheet Name & Tab Name are empty), it only took 3 seconds after clicking Submit until the new entry is filled in Google Sheets & “submitted” notification appears in the form (both happens almost simultaneously).

    b) When connected to an almost empty Google Sheets, it took 6 seconds

    c) When the Sheet already has 1200 Rows filled (the new submission will fill the 1201th row), it took 10 seconds

    d) When the Sheet has many Tabs, and inter-linking formulas, and > 1000 Rows filled, it took 12 seconds until the new entry is filled into the Sheet, plus an extra 50 seconds of arrow spinning before the spinning stops & the “submitted” notification appears.

    My questions:

    1) Why does the “size” of the Google Sheet affect the speed of form submission?

    2) Why is there an extra 50 second (or sometimes longer) of arrow spinning when all tasks are already done (both Email sent and GSheets filled).

The long delay gives uncertainty to the users, resulting in them clicking the submit button repeatedly.

    Hello,
    Thanks for your message.

Sorry for the trouble / issues.

CF7 Google Sheet Connector works after submission of form. So if form is large with many fields then it will take little time to create columns, in other way if sheet has already filled with too many rows then also it will take a little bit time to submit.

    1. There is no size of Google sheet is mentioned.
    2. If its really taking more time to submit with arrow spinning then need to check the console while submitting form that what is causing an issues.

Are you using any other CF7 Addon?
If yes then may be due to multiple addons it may happens, either due to some conflict also it may happens.

    Many Thanks

    Thanks Abdullah.
Other CF7 Add-on I have installed are (though not used in the form I experimented on) :
    – Contact Form 7 Conditional Fields
    – Contact Form 7 Multi-Step Forms
    – Contact Form 7 Skins

The experiments I did for scenarios abcd uses the same form. The variation of abcd is only on the content of the Google Sheet it’s connected to (I added/deleted some Rows).

I checked Chrome console and there was no error (or were you referring to a different console? Sorry I’m not really a programmer)

Any tips/tricks on how to reduce time to submit when the sheet already has many rows?

Unfortunately I’m still on the Lite (Free) version ??
Thanks for the responses so far though!

    Found an alternative solution.
Seems like the CF7 form submssion gets much slower when the GSheet is “working harder”.

So I created a new GSheet purely for new entries, and then use the =IMPORTRANGE() function to “copy” the data to a separate GSheet where I do my data processing.

I will periodically cut+paste Rows from the “new entries sheet” to the “data processing sheet” so that the former stays “lean”, hence faster CF7 form submission ??

But if you do find a solution that addresses the root of the problem in the plugin, do tell so that I can stop doing this cut+paste (reduce work) ??
