Article thumbnail works perfectly, but doesn't display on single.php

Hi there,
I have a ‘News’ section on the home page of my website. The thumbnails work fine there. The problem is, when I click on the ‘read more’ link (<?php the_permalink(); ?>) and land on the single.php page, my image (which is full size on single.php) doesn’t display. Its height and width are 1px ?!
What am I missing ?
