I’m not copying text. I’m just creating a new write post and then when I publish – the A’s show up. This has been going on since I started 6 months ago. I don’t know what I did. I am lucky to have anything published – as I hardly know how to work anything. I can’t get my menu (I know you call it something else) to come to the top – it’s a the bottom. My categories (by month) are all out of order. My site is https://www.matiasfamily.com/blog username is walter password is dog

    thanks for ANY help!

    Thanks

What you are describing is the character “A with diaresis.” (See this: https://tinyurl.com/ygytfq )

But when I look at your page, I see this character instead:

    ?

Weird. Something is wrong with the character set. Go into Dashboard, click Options, then Reading, and be sure UTF-8 is entered where it says “Encoding for pages and feeds.”

    Anything else in there?

What browser are you using to make entries into WordPress?

I’ve seen these appearing in WP when I copy text that contains double spaces. A double space gets replaced by a capital A circumflex.

Are you one of those old-fashioned typists who uses a double-space after punctuation?

Guilty as charged – I AM an old fashioned typer. That has to be what it is. THANKS. So now that I want to go in and edit my posts – I keep “getting erroe on page” when I bring up the manage posts page. What could be wrong?

Well good to know for me, as well. I am an old school double-spacer, too. But of course when you type into an HTML editor, it doesn’t allow that, so I’ve never noticed it.

Thanks so much, Haecceity. You learn something new every day.

Sorry, I don’t know about the page error.

I also don’t know *why* a double space shows as an A-circumflex. Some kind of bug in the wysiwyg?
