This is a general question, and I can’t seem to find any info in the documentation. Is there a way of ensuring that people give you explicit permission to post their names as donors when they are making a donation? I see a “Contact Consent” field in the users’ donation details, but can’t seem to find when and how this is populated. Or how it’s used. It’s blank for all of my donation records.

We want to display our donor names on our website, but only if they give us permission to do so. So right now I’m contacting everyone via email to ask.

  • Hi @rmniemela,

Contact Consent is more focused on whether the donor gives permission for you to follow up with them via email/phone/other means. It can be enabled by going to Charitable > Customize and clicking on the “User Privacy” panel.

To control whether donor names appear on the website, you can use our Anonymous Donations extension: https://www.wpcharitable.com/extensions/charitable-anonymous-donations/

If people choose to remain anonymous, their name will not be publicly displayed on the website; instead their donation will be listed as “anonymous”.

    Cheers,
    Eric
