Asking just in case: in plugins’ admin, can one deactivate the blocks thing?

TL;DR version: may one restore the way widgets are managed by wordpress to how it was with WP 5.7, before blocks management made its way into widgets.

To put my question in a context (not asking for support with that context itself) : I use on two blogs a plugin that allows to have PHP code inside widgets (I use it to display something different whether we’re on the homepage or any page other than the homepage). But, since I upgraded to wordpress 5.8, that plugin is screwed: when I want to update a widget’s contents wp-admin/widgets.php, RIP, error messages (as I reported here, for the plugin’s maintainer https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/reporting-fatal-error-with-wordpress-5-8/ ).

Uncool. But at least, the widgets *do* work for website visitors, it’s what matters most, simply, I cannot update their contents for now, unless I start updating rows by hand with phpmyadmin.

My question, now: is it possible to return to how the widgets were handled before, before wordpress 5.8 threw blocks in the face of our poor widgets?
I mean, look at the post editor: there’s a plugin to stick to how post editing was in the past, before worpress threw blocks in, right? Best of both worlds, if you love block editing, you’re treated, if you prefer old school management, you’re treated too.

So, maybe, who knows, I ask without much hope, but there’s no harm in trying, maybe there’s a way to at least temporarily, switch back to how widgets were maintained…
