    Hi,

Asset optimization is not loading files. I have tried severally. I get zero assets every time. I have also noted that my performance test gives the same results. It is not updating after a new test since I added Cloudflare. Kindly help me address these issues.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

The mobile site also seems to perform poorly. The main recommendations are ensure text remains visible during webfont load, eliminate render-blocking resources, minimize main thread work, reduce unused CSS, properly size images, and reduce JavaScript execution time.

    Hi @optimalh,

Could we know whether you have integrated with Cloudflare under Hummingbird > Caching > Integrations?

If yes, please check whether clearing the cache via the above section makes any difference or not too.

In general, it would be ideal to 1st configure Asset Optimization and only after you have finished with tweaking Asset Optimization then enable cache.

Could you also please temporarily enable the development mode in Cloudflare and then check whether that makes any difference or not?

At the moment, I don’t see any optimization setting applied on the website to say what could be suggested further.

Once the cache is cleared please follow the given documentation and then check whether it helps further:

Please do let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your response.

    Hi,

I have tried your suggestions. Asset optimization is loading assets. However, my performance results remain the same. They indicate last test date March 20, 2022 at 9:31 pm even when I perform a new test.

    Hi @optimalh

Could you please try to run the test using the incognito mode ( https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95464?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop ) and see if it makes any difference?

Sometimes a browser cache can load a not expected result.

Hummingbird uses the Google API, you can also run the test from https://pagespeed.web.dev/

Just keep in mind that we need to run the test more than once to get the correct result, you can find more about it on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2WSkG6-x74&list=PLV1BcivFAIdu9nxH0DU-W7LO3pFKrmbhl

It appears bot management was blocking PageSpeed Insights. I have sorted this problem. However, the mobile score is very low. Please note I have enabled AMP for my site and cache on mobile devices (Hummingbird). Which setting am I missing? Is there any plugin that can help? Kindly assist with this issue.

    Hi @optimalh,

However, the mobile score is very low. Please note I have enabled AMP for my site and cache on mobile devices (Hummingbird). Which setting am I missing?

I ran a Google Page Speed and could notice a score of 59 for Mobile and 99 for Desktop.

The maximum score that can be achieved entirely depends upon your theme and how it loads its assets. The current score seems to be high and the website seems to be optimized to its optimal setting.

The primary factor for a low score in mobile is “Reduce initial server response time”, please check the following screenshot:

    Screenshot at 17:25:47.png

Do you have cache enabled on the hosting provider side? It should help with improving the score regarding that. If it’s already enabled, then would highly recommend bringing it to your hosting provider’s attention to see if there are any other aspects that could be looked at to improve the server load.

The “Reduce unused JavaScript” seems to be pointing to 3rd party scripts like google ads, gtm etc which I’m afraid there isn’t much that could be done as they are loaded from an external server. The rest of the factors don’t seem to be affecting the score significantly.

Since you are also using AMP you could also try serving AMP pages instead of the default theme pages and see whether that improves the score further for Mobile. In general, AMP pages would be much faster, so you could also give that a try too.

Please do let us know how that goes.
