Assign categories to people in Bulk

You could export the directory:

Edit the CSV file, the Categories column, add the category(ies) you wish to attach to the entries and import the edited CSV file.

If you decide to use this method, I very highly recommend doing a small test of 2–3 entries before doing the entire directory so you can verify the results.

Thanks so much Steven. I didn’t see where it was possible to “map” categories when importing, only fields like name, address, etc. Am I missing something?

When mapping fields, their is a “Categories” option in the dropdown:
