Assigning a character count

  • Hello,

    I just changed my blog to a new theme. I am having some issues with getting everything to function correctly.
    1.) the blog main page is showing the full text for each post, making the home page very long. I checked the box for it to only display the summary of each post on the Reading settings, but it doesn’t seem to be working. The person who I bought the theme from said that I need to assign a character count in order to shorten the amount of the post that is displayed on the home page. I can not figure this out!

    2.) I can’t get my recipes to go into the category I’ve assigned it to. I would like to have each recipe appear on the page I assign it to under my “Recipe” category with it’s featured image and title underneath. I couldn’t figure out how to do this with the last theme I was using either.

    3.) when I hover over my Recipe page on the main menu, none of the categories show. I assigned each category a ‘parent’ but nothing shows up under ‘Recipes’.

    Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. I am new at using WordPress and I just want my blog to work correctly!

    While we would be more than willing to help with your issue(s), such issues need to be related to one of the free themes from here. We do not have access to paid themes and cannot help troubleshoot them. Your point of support for this theme is the theme provider.
