Assigning Categories to Menu Rather Than Pages

  • I’m putting together a travel blog with several categories. What I want to do is to make these categories accessible through a menu. So instead of assigning Pages in the menu, I want to assign Categories – Food, History, Architecture, People, etc. The front page of my blog would just be for general posts…where I’m going, plans, etc.
    Is there a way to do this, and if so, could somebody please explain it to me?

    OH, I forgot to mention…the theme I’m using has to have the Page Menu links hard coded on the functions.php page. Can I simply do this?:
    ?<li class="bk2"><a href="https://thegratefuldreamer.com/blog/?cat=7">History</a></li>
