• HI
I have a few issues on our site, which uses Morphology as it’s theme. The developer has asksed for access to fix them. I do not know them, it is a company called Shaped Pixels. I made an ‘editor’ log in for them, but they need access deeper in the site. I am not comfortable giving a total stranger ‘admin’ access. I have no reason to think they would abuse this, but it does not seem like a good idea. What other option do I have?
    thanks.. marie

  • If they built the theme and your not binded by any HIPPA or NDAs then it’s advisable to let them in. Especially if they’re fixing your issue.

I have heard of their name before. Don’t know anyone there though.

If you don’t feel comfy then you could always find someone willing to come to you.

You don’t really have any other option. Anyone fixing your site at the theme level needs both admin access and probably FTP, too. Make a full backup of your site first and download it someplace safe. When they’re done, remove their ID and change your FTP and hosting passwords.

You might ask them to use the Chrome Remote Desktop to use your admin session (or a temporary admin level session). You login to your Dashboard then either initiate the session or accept their request.

That’s pretty safe and you can watch them work if you wish.

If it was me and I felt I couldn’t trust them then I sure wouldn’t want to run their theme either but being cautious is a good thing. The remote desktop might be just what you need here.
