    HI All

I am new to wordpress and trying to make a site, but having some issues.

I want to put a different background image and or colour onto different pages.

I have looked at different codes but can’t find anything that i think works or if it does i dont know where to place it.

I have copied the Main Index Template file and uploaded it as a different template so i can change individual things on different pages (all with a new template)

but i want to know what to put into the new page template to be able to change the colour and background on it.

I am using the latest version of Atahualpa.

    thanks

  • Could we have a link to your site so we can look at what you’re talking about? It helps to be able to see your site’s output.

I guess the basic strategy is to identify some class or id (or both) that will uniquely identify the elements whose styles you want to change. This can usually be done from attributes already in the HTML, but it depends on the theme.

So it would help if you could be a bit more specific, saying exactly what you want to change and where. We can then look at your site’s code (if you give us a link) and try to work out how to do what you’re after. Usually it’s just a matter of adding a bit of CSS to what’s already there.

BTW, it’s a much better idea to use a child theme if you possibly can.

    I’m using the atahualpa theme

Couple of things struggling with (as not great with coding)

I would like to have the option to change the background colour and or, image on each page.

At the moment with the set up for testing this would currently just be the page Gripped, under the parent CLUBS.

Gripped is a template page style, that is copied from the index main template. It has then had some coding added for the image across the top.

    ________

The other issue is to do with the sidebars, top padding wasn’t working, so i added a text widget with breaks in <br>

I would quite like to use different widgets for different pages, but i think this may be possible with the custom sidebar pluggin i have.

    thanks.
