• Hi all,

I’m a newbie to WordPress so I very much appreciate you sharing your experience and advice.

I’ve never upgraded or updated the Atahualpa theme.

I have the Atahualpa theme running on a Web site built with WordPress. I’ve recently upgraded WP to the latest version.

I now wish to upgrade the Atahualpa theme to the most recent version.

There is a divergence in opinions about the approach.

One user has kindly shared that they prefer to upgrade manually with FTP so that you can easily switch back to your current (older version) should you encounter trouble.

Another Atahualpa user advocates a manual theme install by copying in your images, deleting the supplied images, checking for any patches, FTP’ing the new version’s folder to the ‘wp-content/themes’ themes folder on your host, activating the theme, then visiting the WordPress Dashboard, Appearances, Themes and activating the new version, verifying the URL Names in the options, and then reselecting your menus.

Another Atahualpa user suggests there’s no need to FTP because the WordPress dashboard installs the theme for you but retains the older version in this process.

I was curious how other Atahualpa users approached updating/upgrading the Atahualpa theme?

    TIA.

Thanks, but I only found one person’s post about updating/upgrading and although comprehensive, I was trying to ascertain if there was a consensus about updating/upgrading?

That person advocated a manual update but I wondered if anyone on this WordPress forum updates/upgrades or uses the Atahualpa theme?

Many people referred me specifically to this forum.

    Thank you!
