Also, as a side note, it’s best to use a child theme when making changes to your site. If you edit the theme files directly, you’ll lose those changes if the theme is ever updated.

I tried making a child theme by doing it manually, and then using a plugin, but for some reason the child theme ends up looking very different from the parent. Any idea why? The only thing I did was duplicate the theme, rename and edit style.css with the new name and path.

I figured it out. I added this to the bottom of style.css:
