Attaching Custom Fields to Taxonomies & Copying Meta Boxes

  • I use this plugin a lot — it’s great! It would be even more awesome if Custom Fields could be added to any taxonomy, not just post types. Currently I’m going to have to add php functions to my theme to be able to do this, which is such a shame when I’ve got this fantastic plugin, especially since the meta boxes have a better setup than regular custom fields…

    Also, I’ve seen somewhere in this support forum that it’s not possible to associate a custom field meta box with more than one post type — but would it be possible to Click to Copy the contents of a meta box over to a new meta box, at which point a new post type (or, hopefully, taxonomy) could be chosen?

    Sorry to take so long to get back to you ?? It fell through the cracks.

    Have you tried the Duplicate Post plugin? https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/duplicate-post/

    It should work with custom post types like the Custom Fields Creator. That means you can duplicate a metabox and then just make the needed changes to it. (like selecting a different post type). Tested it and it works!

    Thanks for getting back to me ?? I’m not sure we’re talking about the same thing… Maybe I didn’t explain myself properly… I mean when creating a new metabox from the settings page, it would be nice to reproduce all the same options so you don’t have create the same type of metabox for each different custom post type… It sounds like the Duplicate Post plugin would reproduce the contents of an individual metabox, but not the entire setup to transfer between CPTs… Thanks again!

    Ah… ok. I see what you mean.

    Unfortunately that’s not a possible right now. We are working on an import-export functionality for WCK, but it will not have this in the first version. But we’ll keep it in mind in the future, perhaps it will make sense for us to implement such a thing.
