With the latest update I am no longer seeing the “Att. Categories” on the add media screen. I have to go to the media library and open the attachemnt in order to set the attachment categories.

edit: So it’s not showing on PDFs. It shows on images.

edit2: Actually it’s just not showing just on newly uploaded files. If I upload a new file (PDF in this case) I do not see the Att. Categories section. If I click on other items in the library (PDFs and Images alike) I see them. If I go back to the new upload I still do not see it. If I close the modal and save a draft (e.g. refresh the page) and then go back into the add media screen, I now see the Att. Categories on the new upload.

Thanks you for this report and your edits with the additional information. I have done some tests and found a defect in the new MLA version that might be the one you report, but I want to make sure I understand your report so I can be sure.

You wrote “I am no longer seeing the “Att. Categories” on the add media screen. It looks like you mean the “Upload Files” tab of the “Insert Media” Modal (popup) Window, which you accessed by clicking the “Add Media” button on the Edit Post/Page screen; is that right? In particular, you do NOT mean the Media/Add New (Upload New Media) screen, right?

In my tests I found that (with the new version) dropping a file into the Upload Files area goes back to the Media Library tab, uploads the file and displays the ATTACHMENT DETAILS pane on the right side of the window. There, the taxonomies are shown as plain text fields just below the Description field. That’s a bug.

If you click the “Search” button in the top-center of the toolbar, the window refreshes, the taxonomies move down to where they should be and the terms are displayed correctly. Have you tried that?

I will work on fixing the bug I have found and post an update when I have progress to report. If I have not understood your report and there is an additional problem to investigate, any additional information you can give me will be very helpful.

Thanks for alerting me to this new defect.

You’ve described it to a T. I didn’t even notice the “Att. Categories” plain text field but I do see that now. And yes, searching for a file does refresh it and show the checkboxes properly.

Thanks for confirming my understanding of the defect you’ve discovered. I have uploaded a new Development Version dated 20160106 that corrects the problem. To get the Development Version, follow the instructions in this earlier topic:

Shortcode not working in (special) widget

It would be great if you can install the Development Version and let me know if it works for you. Of course, if any other problems emerge I want to know about them as well.

I will leave this topic unresolved until the fix goes out in the next MLA version. Thanks for your help with this problem.

    Yup, all good.

edit: Sorry, marked it as resolved. Just noticed you meant to leave it unresolved.

Thanks for your quick update with the good news. I reset the topic status to unresolved so I can track it for the next MLA version.

I have released MLA v2.24, which contains the Media Manager Modal Window fixes used in your application.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have any problems or further questions regarding the new release.
