attempt to publish/update produces “not acceptable” error

  • I’ve had this problem ever since I started using WP.

    I can get a certain number of posts up, but then, at some random moment, publishing or updating a post results in a “Not Acceptable” error message with an attendant 404.

    I’ve been in conversation with my hosting support desk via email, and apparently, there’ve been occasional deluges of spam hitting my server; I have commenting disabled, but whatever botnet that’s attempting to spam my blog doesn’t know this, and is probably just hitting the server until my blog falls over.

    Is this happening to anyone else?
