Attempted log ins

  • Hi all,

    I wonder whether someone could help me. Wordfence send me regular emails showing me attempted log in attempts.

    It gives me their username, number of attempts and whether they are an existing user or not.

    However today it has sent me two log in, apparently from existing users but they are not! There is no such member. Any idea on why it is telling me they are an existing member when they clearly are not?

    Are these two login attempts on your main website? don’t you have any other WordPress installation on a sub-directory or something?

    Make sure to check “Scan for admin users created outside of WordPress” option under (Wordfence > Options => Scans to include) and run a scan on your website, also you should double check if these users exist on “WordPress users” page or “wp_users” table in the database or not.
