autoptimize does not really know about audio, only about CSS & JS ??

what’s probably happening is that you have (CSS or) JS which sets visibility and that code is not running correctly when autoptimized. have a look at the FAQ for info on how to fix such problems.

do let me know if you need extra information to fix this!

Hi Frank, thanks for the response. Do you mean to use nooptimise? All a bit new to me.
If I deactivate the plugin all is fine.

I guess you add the audio using a shortcode (or a button in the editor), so noptimize would not be the correct solutions to this problem.

You know what; let’s try to go through the troubleshooting-steps together ??

first step; activate AO, but try with CSS optimization off. if it does not work, turn CSS optimization on and JS optimization off. which one “breaks” audio?

    Hi Frank,

Thanks for your help – I appreciate it.

    CSS off – doesn’t work.
JS off – does work! ??

    great!

second step: activate both JS & CSS optimization, load a page with audio and look at your browsers (error) console. what JS errors do you see?

Uncaught ReferenceError: google is not defined autoptimse….

The audio is just above the facebook feed on the homepage.
    Thank you!

OK, can you add ultimate-google-maps/js/maplace.min.js to the comma-seperated list of JS optimization exclusions?

alternatively you can also untick “force JS in head” (and potentially “aggregated inline JS”) OR try with the “try/catch wrapping” on.

Unticking “force JS in head” seems to have sorted it.
Thank you so much for your help Frank!
