Audio Embeds – Play and Mute buttons do not load/display?

Try adding the following to style.css (or elsewhere) to make those controls show up.

.mejs-overlay-button {
    background:url("/wp-includes/js/mediaelement/bigplay.png") no-repeat !important;
}

.mejs-controls .mejs-button button {
    background:transparent url("/wp-includes/js/mediaelement/controls.png") no-repeat !important;
}

The play button appears, but the mute button is also showing up as the play button.

Do we know why this is an issue?

Never really investigated it fully. I just recall this issue cropping up for something I was working on about a year ago. See if changing the file suffix from .png to .svg changes things for the better.

Nope, changing from .png to .svg broke it again.

Weird. I cannot be the only one who is having this problem.

I’m wondering if the themes you’re using are messing with things.

AddType image/svg+xml svg svgz
AddEncoding gzip svgz
