Audio player not playing

I added audio via shortcode to a page. The audio was uploaded to the media library. The media player appears on the page like normal, but when I press play, the pause button appears (like normal), but the sound doesn’t play.

I’ve also tried embedding Soundcloud files, but with the same results.
