• I updated both mejs and wordpress a couple days ago, and now anywhere the [audio] shortcode is used, mejs never gets called. The video player works just fine, but for whatever reason all the audio files just use the built-in (in chrome and safari on iOS and OS X, as well as firefox) audio player for each browser. Even forcing [mejsaudio mp3= doesn’t do the trick. Had no issues until a couple days ago.

    Anyone else having this issue?
    Thanks

  • I too am having the same issue. Since the update, audio files aren’t working on my site. I’m using WordPress 3.4.1. Nothing I do seems to make a difference. I was using the [audio mp3] shortcode. Wish I hadn’t updated.

I am also having the same exact issue. I am actually using the longer version of the embed [mejsaudio src=”file-name” width=”100%”] The file is mp3 format and will play in all browsers except Firefox (because firefox is the only one that cannot natively play mp3).

All of my CSS formatting also dissapears in the other browsers (Chrome, IE10, Silk, etc.) When I look at the code using Firebug in Firefox or in Chrome it places the content under the html tag <audio> rather than using the div tag under which the mejsaudio usually appears.

I am using the latest version of WordPress (3.5.1)

Other plugins which are being used on the site are MyCalender, Jetpack, Sermon Browser, Google Maps Widget, Quick Cache, Page Links To, and Responsive Columnn Widgets.

I am using a child theme of the 2012 theme which I created myself(the child theme). I have made no php changes except for adding post categories and moving the header to the top of the page above the menu bar.

I can’t post a link for my site because I have reverted back to the older version of this plug-in (2.9.1; which works fine) while it is not working, as this is not a personal site, and I need to keep the audio files accessible for people visiting the site.

Seeing that this plugin no longer appears to work as an MP3 player, does anyone know of an MP3 plugin that works well with WordPress? If it were responsive, that would be great, too.

Well, the old version (2.9.1) is still working fine. Just go to the plugin page, and download that version, then upload it from the plugins page and install it (After uninstalling the new version).

You will keep getting the notice that you need to update the plugin, but the mp3 player will work.

Also the Jetpack plugin does also have a built in player.

    Do you have a link to 2.9.1? I can’t find it… Thanks!

Found it under the Developers tab — https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/media-element-html5-video-and-audio-player/developers/

Thanks for the heads up Tufloss! 2.9.1 works for me, too.

I just got the new version of mediaelements.js to work on my site. I did two things.

    1. in the settings section of my dashboard under mediaelements.js I specified that my default audio is audio/mp3

    2. I deleted width=”100%” from my shortcode.

I’m not sure why this works, but my site now works fine.

Interesting, that did not work for me. Guess I’ll just downgrade for the time being.

Thanks for the suggestion @tufloss. I tried it out, but it didn’t work. Rather than downgrade, I think I’ll find another plugin. Haiku minimalist audio player looks interesting…

Yes same here – totally not working after update…which is annoying for Firefox users. Also W3TC update totally killed my blog, wasn’t sure if it was related but it seems not. But that’s a different story. BAD plugin (W3TC I mean, not Mediaelement).

I’ll downgrade for now, thanks for the tip.

Don’t you know whether new version works now or it has the same problem?

I updated to WordPress 3.5.1, is there an audio player plugin that works on that version?

    On My site “www.KleDaVincci.com”
My audio player (which was working just fine before the upgrade) has stopped working on my safari / Mac. When I check it on Firefox, it plays PERFECTLY.
This causes me to think that the player doesn’t work for other Safari users, and I’m wondering how to fix it, or at least how to “DOWNGRADE” the player. Need help asap, new album dropping soon and I want it work.

P.S. Im new to this HTML coding thing, so hit me up when you all can thanks.
