audio preload > bandwith hog
-
hi people
I’m designing a site for a friend who is hosting some 20 full MP3 tunes on his website, all on one feature page for people to listen to.
I’m using the standard WordPress audio codes that look like this:
[audio mp3="https://domain.com/audio/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/08-Sample.mp3"][/audio]
My client freaked out when he went to the page with his cell phone and it ate up his entire month’s data bandwidth. I’m guessing that WordPress forced the phone to download all the audio on the page, regardless of whether the “play” button was pressed.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Is there any code hacks or scripting that I can apply to the child-theme I’m using that might prevent this from happening?
thanks for any suggestions!
~Gary
