The default audio player (and other plug in players) plays but will not show when published on WordPress 4.4.2 Clifford. I am using Windows7 on Chrome and WordPress theme Twenty Eleven 2.3. It showed in the beginning, then disappeared. My website is https://www.DennisF.us Any suggestions?

I have the same problem – anyone out there know a fix?

I found a work-around in case you didn’t sort this out. I’m using the same theme and WP versions as you so it could be the same.
The audio player showed up when I switched to visual editor so I knew it was there, but was not showing up in the browser when the page was viewed. I looked in the page source and saw that the audio tag had inline styles assigned with the visibility property set to “hidden”. I changed that class’s property in my css to “visible” but that didn’t over ride the inline styling. I ended up just copying the whole audio tag entry from the browser page source and pasted into the text editor (deleted the shortcode) then just deleted the visibility property from the inline style – voila the player showed normally as soon as the page refreshed.
It doesn’t like the shortcode for some reason – such a pain because I have a whole bunch of posts with audio.

Thank you esp2013. A Hostgator tech found the same answer for me. I copied the media.php file with the fix in case wordpress updates create the same problem in the future.
