Authorship and publisher

  • Did i read correctly that google is doing away with indexing or displaying authorship info in their search results and rel=”author” as of Aug 29. Does this mean the rel=”publisher” tag is no longer being used also.

    Google has done away with Google Authorship, specifically the connection of Google+ profiles to authorship data and the display of an author’s Google+ avatar in search results.

    Google will still respect rel=”author” and use it as meta data for searches, so your name will still be attached essentially as search data in the index.
