Thanks for that but I have been through all the WP settings, none work as the dropdown does not show newly added authors.

Just on another note, I hope you are aware of it The Author Drop-down list only displays Authors, Editors, and Administrators.

Also could you please confirm if you are using any User Role Editor plugin?

The issue as I see, WP should by default be able to show the Author, but it does not?

But nothing shows? ??
