Author issue with a directory site

    Hi,
    I’m currently using Geotheme directory and it seems their is a security concern. I have tried to contact the theme about it but they aren’t very helpful.
    To allow users to register, create listings and update them it has to be set to ‘Anyone can register as an author’. The issue is I have someone adding spam posts and fake registrations and I’m talking hundreds a day. This is taking me hours a day to delete. If I don’t resolve this soon I will have to take down the site.
    Does anyone know of a plugin or solution that could help with this. Happy to pay someone to fix it.

    How are users signed up to your website?

    It sounds like you are not using any form of spam signup protection. The most widely used method is captcha – e.g. https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/captcha/

    Enabling that in the signup process would cut down on a huge amount of ‘bot/spam’ signups that you are getting.

    Thank you for your response, I added the captcha plugin you suggested yet these fake registrations still kept coming through, it also didn’t work properly and I had complaints the captcha was appearing or the captcha wouldn’t let them login after they had enter details correctly, so I have switched it off.

    Anyone else have an issue with Author registrations on Geothemes?
