    Hi,

my first question is: How to convert the author name into a link? In the Editor the post author block has only two settings (show avatar and show bio). Unfortunately, the author name is just a <p> element but it should link to the author page domain.com/author/@author-name/

So my second question is: how to create an author template with the Editor? It’s no available right now…

    Thanks in advance!

Hi @crazydevila, you should be able to create an Author template by going to Appearance > Editor > Templates, then clicking “Add New” and selecting the Author template option:

    Templates Self hosted Test WordPress

Let me know if you see this on your end.

I’m looking into whether it’s possible to get the author name linked; I’m not sure why it’s not at the moment. I’ll keep you posted if I find out more.

Hi again, I’ve just confirmed that there is a link option in the newest Post Author Name block, but it didn’t make it into in WordPress 6.0. Unfortunately, the older Post Author block doesn’t have an option for linking to the Author archive, but it will hopefully be coming in WP 6.1.

You can also follow this enhancement ticket over in GitHub which discussses the link option:

I was able to create an Author template.

It’s unfortunate that we still need to wait for the author name link. I’ll monitor the GitHub for any updates.

    Thank you, Kathryn P!
