    Hi all,

I’m new to WordPress theme development, and PHP in general, but everything seemed to be going ok until this problem, which seems to my eyes to have sprung up out of nowhere after working fine before.

The site I’m building is located here:
    https://www.miriammedical.co.uk/wordpress/

The problem is when I click on the link of an author. Previously this was working ok (I don’t remember if the WP-generated link was pointing to the same place or a different URL), showing all posts by a particular author when clicked. Now it points to the “wordpressauthor” directory, which is neither on my system nor my remote server and never has been, and so is a dead link.

Why is this happening? Is this directory part of the WP 3.0.1. files, and I need to update, or what?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting. If this works, then review Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure back up again.

Works a treat, esmi, thanks very much.

I’m not sure if there’s any way I can keep custom permalinks for my pages but not for WP-generated links, but I’m knee-deep in trying to figure that problem now. Thanks!
