Author not appearing in sitemap

    I’ve noticed that our sitemap is only including a small batch of authors (https://dogtime.com/author-sitemap.xml) and for some reason it’s excluding several active authors with recent posts.

    I’ve checked the WP author pages and none of these are manually excluded via the “Do not allow search engines to show this author’s archives in search results” so not sure why Yoast is not picking them up.

    I want to know if there’s a way I can include the missing authors in the sitemap without the “Show author archives without posts in search results” option.

    Hi @aolea

    When a specific page is removed from sitemap, there can be multiple reasons behind it. So can you kindly check the following to see if this is true for the missing pages:

    Is it possible those pages have canonical URL set manually? i.e if you edit the page and check the Yoast SEO metabox > advanced > Canonical URL field, do you see any URL there?

    You asked another question i.e if it is possible to include the missing authors in the sitemap without the “Show author archives without posts in search results” option.

    You can keep it disabled. Please check the screenshot. This will hide the authors without posts from the sitemap.

    Thanks for the feedback Mushrit.

    I’ve checked posts from the missing authors and none of them have the manual Canonical URL inputted.

    This is one of the author archives that is missing from the author site map: https://dogtime.com/author-sitemap.xml

    https://dogtime.com/author/milkahmullanda

    Is there any other settings I should check to ensure this archive page is included in the site map?

    Hi @aolea

    Can you kindly head to WordPress dashboard > Users and edit the author profile for the author milkahmullanda, scroll down to find Yoast SEO settings and check whether the checkbox is checked for “Do not allow search engines to show this author’s archives in search results”?

    If yes, kindly remove the checkmark and then save the settings.
