Author page is being redirected to Home

  • Hello, I am using this theme with the Rank Math SEO plugin. In the Rank Math SEO plugin, I enabled the “Author Archives” option and from the theme’s single post setting, I turned on the “Enable Author Link” option. It is displaying the author name with a clickable link in the single post and archive pages but when I click on the author name, it redirects to the site home page. To find out the problem, I deactivated all other plugins and themes one by one and finally found the conflict between rank math and kadence theme. To be sure, I switched to another theme with the same rank math plugin, and in that theme, the author link was working fine i.e. was going to the actual author page. But when again I switched to the Kadence theme, it redirected to the home page. To test purpose, I tested the same thing with my other domain with a fresh installation of wp, rank math and Kadence theme and the same thing happened there. Is there any solution for this?

    I visited the page you linked and found the author box at the bottom of the post. When I clicked on the author name (Phil Paris) and was directed to the following page: https://www.husbandi.com/author/bksvdfn. This is the expected behavior.

    Have you turned off settings to make this work again? Can you explain what RankMath setting you enabled? I know the Kadence setting you mentioned to add the link to the author, but I’m not sure what Rank Math option you were referring to.

    Thank you for the reply. Yes, that link redirects perfectly, but the one that is showing in meta info just after the article title is redirecting to the home page. See this screenshot for better understanding > https://prnt.sc/FCoCqL5rfK7a

    Same way, if you visit to any archive page; suppose https://www.husbandi.com/love (https://prnt.sc/DLvsj0rQf3X0) you will see the author name in the meta info after the title. If you click the author name from there it also redirects to the home page.

    And no, I didn’t change anything after my first post.

    Hey @shakirahmed,

    I was able to see the issue you are having. I was redirected to your homepage when clicking on the Author Meta Link in the Related Posts Carousel. Sometimes, this happens when the User Account has the Website URL set to the main URL of the website. (Home)

    Can you edit the User in your Dashboard -> Users and ensure the Website URL field is empty? Here is a video where I fixed this using this process for reference: https://share.zight.com/v1uBgl62

    If the issue continues, can you also try performing a Permalink Soft Reset? You can do this by going to your Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks and pressing the Save Changes button. You don’t have to modify anything to perform the soft reset.

    You are great @victormonk. The home URL was set on the user’s profile page. I just removed that, and now all is fine. Thank you, man.
