    this plugin doesnt work for me it says undefined variable: _SESSION

    WordPress does not actually put the username in the URL, it puts the “user_nicename” in the URL. You can edit this value in the database if you want to change it. Look in the wp_users table.

    However, this does not improve security. Your username is not intended to be secret information. It does not matter if the attacker knows your username if you use a strong password.

    Consider modern web services like Google and Facebook and such. These all use your email address as the account identifier. They don’t have usernames, you put in your email and your password. Well, your email isn’t secret, really. You give it to everybody who you send emails to. So, are those services less secure because people know your email? Or do you just use strong passwords?

    Use strong passwords. Don’t worry about your username being some kind of secret, because it is not.
