Hi! There are 5 authors on the site, we all have the role of administrator. The problem is that we cannot select the author when publishing a new article. I have been struggling to understand the cause for a long time. Before writing to you, I asked on the specialist forums, but without success, someone says that: “If you have a role manager plugin, the page permissions might be changed. This was my case, the default permissions for Pages did “do not allow to change Author”, Another person says it could be the wordfence security settings, what can I do?`

    Hi @daniellacatus,

Wordfence, aside from being able to assign reCAPTCHA and 2FA requirements to logins doesn’t actually act as a role/user manager for your WordPress accounts.

If you’re experiencing blocks (which will be Wordfence-branded error pages) when making settings changes, you could try a period of time in Learning Mode. If you’re making changes that just aren’t saving, it could be down to a Javascript error caused by a plugin conflict. Disable all plugins except for Wordfence and switch to a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Two. Can you then make the changes you need to? If so, reenable your plugins and theme one-by-one to see when the issue starts up again.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
