Author Tag displayed as link for only one user

It sounds like Facebook may have changed their support for the author meta tag (which is different than the article:author meta tag). Try setting the SSO -> General -> Facebook -> Author Name Format option to “None”, then re-scrape the webpage using the Facebook debugger at https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/, and let me know if that fixes the issue.

It’s sad that it’s working for just one user and it’s so frustrating trying to figure out what’s wrong.

You didn’t provide any URLs as mentioned in this forums sticky post — please provide the URLs to those two posts/pages if you would like me to investigate further.

I found the issue. Facebook must have made some changes recently — the “author” meta tag now appears to take precedence over the Facebook / Open Graph “article:author” meta tag value. It’s a bit of an odd decision by Facebook, but easily fixed. ?? The SSO -> General -> Facebook -> Author Name Format option has been re-purposed as a fallback feature for the “article:author” meta tag (instead of always adding an “author” meta tag regardless). This change will be available in v3.29.3-1, which should be released later today.

It’s really important for me to get it to work as we are trying to promote the personal brand of our team members, and the photographer does great work for which he really deserves it. I hope you could find a solution to this.

It looks like the author is not allowing followers. From the Setup Guide:

Authors should take a moment to update their Facebook Follower Settings to enable a Follow button on Facebook. In this way, authors can publish both private (for friends) and public (for friends and followers) content on their Facebook wall.

This is probably why Facebook is not linking the author’s profile.
