    Hi,

yes, we made a change to the oAuth process for Gmail mailer. This change was made so users with mod_security and other WP security plugins issues can also use the Gmail mailer without any issues.

    It’s not a bug ??

    Have a nice day!

@capuderg — do we need to (or is it recommended that we) add this new URI to the “Authorized redirect URIs” of our Google web application?

    Hi @hastibe,

if you want to use our plugin to authorize with Google/Gmail, you’ll have to add it.

    Take care!

Thanks for the quick response, @capuderg! Before adding the new URI, though, I successfully sent a test email from WP Mail SMTP with only the old https://example.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wp-mail-smtp URI authorized in my Google web application, so is adding the new URI really required?

The change seems to have broken the email on all of my sites. So we just add it to Google? I followed the instructions to remove connection and set it up again, but the setup process in Google seems to have changes and doesn’t follow the step—by-step instructions you have provided. It’s asking about “Scopes”, etc.

I tried adding https://connect.wpmailsmtp.com/google/ but the test email still failed.

    Hi @hastibe,

The redirect URI is only needed for creating the authorization “connection” with the Google oAuth app. If you already had the authorization connection setup from before, then you don’t need to add this redirect URI. You might need to add it in the future if you remove the connection and re-add it.

    Take care!

    Hi @cameronreilly,

this redirect URI change is probably not the reason for any existing Gmail mailer configuration issues.

What exactly do you mean with:

…the setup process in Google seems to have changes and doesn’t follow the step—by-step instructions you have provided. It’s asking about “Scopes”, etc.

Could you please share a screenshot (please blur out any sensitive information)?

About your test email… You have successfully made the Authorization connection in the Gmail mailer settings and the Email Test in our plugin is failing?

What are the debug log details linked at the bottom of the Email Test page when it fails? Please copy-paste them here, so we can see the actual error from Gmail.

    Take care!
