• I have a wordpress 3.1.3 installed. What are the “tricks and tweaks” or suitable plugins and themes required to have the following features?

Assumming my main wordpress site as “www.mydomain.com”

    1. A site for each user is created at the time of registration as “subdomain.mydomain.com” i.e., “user.mydomain.com”.

    2. A user can create as many blog as he/she wants in his/her own subdomain as “user.mydomain.com/blog”.

    Please Help!

    Doesn’t really work that way.

Users register for a site that will be username.domain.com – This is the site name. This is the blog URL. All they get is that.

If you want users to be able to make sub-blogs, you’ll need to look into mutli-network plugins.

    1. A site for each user is created at the time of registration as “subdomain.mydomain.com” i.e., “user.mydomain.com”.

That’s BUILT IN. Go to yoursite.com/wp-signup.php

#2 is not built in. they can already create as many subdomain blogs as thy wish, just as if they were at wordpress.com.

Thanks Ipstenu and Andres_r for your valuable suggestions.

I tried with multi network plugin and network enabled theme.

Still the result is quite out of what I really expect.

    The result I get is:
    a) user ‘XXX’ is registerd at “www.mydomian.com/members/XXX”
    b) the new blogs of ‘XXX’ are created as “www.newblog.mydomain.com”

But I want to organise all the blogs of ‘XXX’ at “www.XXX.mydomain.com/allhisblogs”.

I want to give my members a sub-domain site each in the format “www. XXX.mydomain.com” and freedom to create and organise their own blogs in the format “www.XXX.mydomain.com/allhisblogs”.

    Please help.

As we said – THAT feature is not built in.

You MAY be able to leverage https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wp-multi-network/ to do that, but you’ll need to be pretty savvy ??

    Thanks Ipstenu,

Seeing the flexibility of WordPress, I beleive that there must be a workaround. Let me try with your suggestion of leveraging the ‘multi-network’.

Basically, you’re looking to create multiple networks on signup. So you need to hook in the network plugin with the signup process.

Yes, enabling the Multi-Network, the registered users are getting much freedom in creating and managing many blogs (as subDomain sites).

However, The problem still persists with how the sites (blogs) are organized.

There probably is a workaround, but no one’s written it/shared it yet ??

for straight up subdomain sites, that was built in.
