• I have an idea of what the problem is, but what is the best way to fix or do a work around?

My entire account with FastWebHosts is set up weird. Some is my fault, that I do admit.

What I started with was one domain, cottom.org and added several more over the 12 years I’ve been doing this.

    My domain name is: cottom.org.
under that I have five WordPress applications running. So, cottom.org/cottom.org/rgfg.org redirected to just https://www.rgfg.org. BUT by doing so none of the “automatic” updates will work because they are expecting a a different directory structure.

I can find no place to download and install manually the various updates and themes. I could install them myself, if I could find them for manual download.

  • Are your WP apps up to date? Or are some current and some not?

    And which themes?

when I go this domain name https://cottom.org I see your index of folder and one them is rgfg.org when I click on that https://cottom.org/rgfg.org/ this the url in address bar and your wordpress opens.

I would like know what your root folder is?

I have an Apache base UNIX web server.
Each of the six web sites, each a Word Press install , has their own registered domain names.
The directory structure right now is as follows:

    Home/public_html/cottom.org/index.html (cottom.org only has a index.html menu page)
    2nd under public_html is /rgfg.org
    3rd under public_htm/ is /rgfg.org
    4th under public_html is /wabashchaplain.org
    5th under public_html is /terretown.net
    6th under public_html is /wabashtractor.com

All the sites works OK, execpt for the auto update/downloads.

Are you sure as from the url I see that you have cottom.org in public_html and you have rgfg.org in cottom.org

so on top you will see Home/public_html/cottom.org/rgfg.org

Matter of fact you should have the index.html that in cottom.org in public_html as cottom.org is your primary domain name
then have rgfg.org in public_html and same for rest.

set your addon domain names to point respective folder

In try to upgrade any of the sites I get the following response:

    Update WordPress
    Downloading update from https://www.ads-software.com/wordpress-3.4.2-no-content.zip…

    Unpacking the update…

    Verifying the unpacked files…

    Installing the latest version…

AND IT STOPS RIGHT THERE AND FREEZES.

You can update manually using ftp replace all files and folders except
wp-content folder and wp-config.php from a fresh download.

    and run https://domainame/wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Ya all,
Thanks for the help. It still won’t auto upgrade, so I’ll do as I have always did. If I can’t get over the mountain, I’ll go around it, and if I can get around it or under it I will tell it be removed and cast into the sea. (Mark 11:23~24).
