    Hi,

In short, it’s not supported yet.

One thing I can tell is that there are products available on the U.S Amazon store and not available in other stores and vice versa. Therefore, it’s not possible to switch the store URL while keeping the same product.

I tried the plugin you linked and when a product is not available on the store that the visitor is located in, it links to the search result page.

If you think it’s sufficient for most users, I’ll consider adding the feature in future updates.

    Thank you.

    Hi miunosoft,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I understand the issue of replicating the same products across different Amazon sites, but as a workaround would it not be possible to have different code (and thus display different products) generated in the backend for each Amazon store and then using GeoIP, determine where the user is visiting from and then display the relevant code snippet on the frontend of the site?

This solution would mean that you’ll never end up at a search results page and that products being displayed will always be available in whichever Amazon store is being displayed.

A change like this would be a fine addition to your plugin and would set it in a class above the rest of the amazon plugins out there. It is almost definitely a feature that everyone using your plugin would benefit from, and I for one would love to see it included in future releases.

Am keen to hear your thoughts,

    Regards,
    Paul

Similar to products, there are available categories on one store and not the others (the node structures are different). So, it is not possible (as far as I know) to automate switching the locales based on the selected categories.

It could be achieved by letting the user manually assign a different ad unit for a region for one particular main unit like creating a unit group. However, it would require the user to read the languages that they are not familiar with (in order to create the units for the different locales, they have to browse through the category selection page). I hardly imagine that most users would love to do it.

Or did you mean something different?

    Hi miunosoft,

sorry for the delay in responding to you.

What I meant was a slightly different approach that I’m sure could be easily integrated…

In short, have the option to set up 3 (or however many stores) with *different* products, store the separate code snippets in a cache folder or in DB and call the relevant snippet dependant on which IP the user was from. If call was made via JS it would even be compatible with caching plugins…

For users not being able to read foreign languages, you could have a fall-back to a default set of products for visitors who’s IP’s do not match the already set-up country specific stores.

Does that give a better understanding?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts…

    Hi Paul,

In short, have the option to set up 3 (or however many stores) with *different* products,

So it has to be set manually. If the user wants to display five unique products for example, he/she must choose total 15 items manually in order to associate three different locales in that case. I would hardly imagine average users would love to do it.

You mentioned that have a default set but it’s not possible to find a product that is not available in the other stores. In that case, linking to the search result page would be one solution and it is what is said in the initial reply.

If call was made via JS it would even be compatible with caching plugins…

With the URL cloak feature, it’s possible to avoid using JS scripts.

Overall, I would just use the mentioned plugin in your initial post until the feature gets implemented. Thanks for the suggestion though.
